The international side is one of the major thrusts of INSA Strasbourg's development strategy, within a dynamic network of five INSAs.
INSA Strasbourg is committed to the international integration of its degree courses, mainly through a compulsory international exchange period of at least three months abroad.
The international policy is not specific to any particular specialty. INSA's board considers its international strategy to be a prime development factor that takes in everybody in the school, while not losing focus on the geographic priorities of the regional policy driven by the regional authorities and Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Time spent abroad greatly contributes to enhancing the student experience and is mostly organised through the following exchange programmes:
The Erasmus and French-German University programme (Europe)
The Crepuq programme (Canada)
The Brafitec programme (Brazil)
Various bilateral cooperation agreements with partner establishments in the United States, Russia, Mexico, Morocco, Vietnam etc.
In some specialities and under certain conditions, students may also opt to validate the last year of their studies at INSA and work on a Masters degree at the same time whilst abroad (Cranfield University, Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago, Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne, Hochschule Offenburg (Offenburg University of Applied Sciences), Chalmers University of Technology
Students can obtain grants for the period they spend abroad, through European, national and regional funding.
Depending on their project, students can apply for the following grants: The European Erasmus grant, the Franco German University grant, the French government's mobility grant, the Alsace Region's mobility grant, grants awarded by Strasbourg and its twin cities, and the Brafitec grant (Brasil).
The compulsory period of study in a foreign university or company goes hand-in-hand with the development of the number of students coming to INSA from abroad.
INSA is committed to ensuring that all international students coming to the school are taken in hand immediately on their arrival, through induction events and providing accommodation possibilities through the CROUS student services office. The school also lays on a programme for familiarising students with French culture, while French language lessons are also available through the Alliance française.
The "Young Ambassadors of Alsace" scheme was introduced by the local authorities to enhance foreign students' stay in Alsace. The operation sets out to create long-lasting bonds between Alsace and the students who have stayed there.
The n+1 programme is a package for international students to allow graduates to take a degree course in INSA welcomes (nplusi programme).
The package includes a special programme to help foreign students with their cultural, scientific and linguistic integration in INSA Strasbourg.
Architecture, génie civil, génie climatique et énergétique, génie électrique, génie mécanique, mécatronique, plasturgie, topographie.
