Institut Charles Sadron

Présentation de l'Institut

L’Institut Charles Sadron est un laboratoire propre du CNRS (UPR22), associé à l’Université de Strasbourg, qui a été créé en 1954 pour accompagner au niveau de la recherche fondamentale le développement naissant de l’industrie des polymères. Aujourd’hui implanté sur le Campus de Cronenbourg, cet institut pluridisciplinaire, à l’interface de la chimie et de la physique des matériaux, est composé de :

  • 54 Chercheurs et Enseignants-Chercheurs,
  • 44 Ingénieurs, Techniciens et Administratifs,
  • et environ 110 Doctorants, Post-docs, Invités, Chercheurs Associés et Stagiaires.

 

L’institut est structuré en 7 équipes de recherche et 4 plates formes de recherche. Les principaux thèmes de recherche portent sur :

  • Les matériaux macromoléculaires fonctionnels
  • Les systèmes auto-assemblés
  • Les aspects fondamentaux des polymères
  • Les polymères aux interfaces

 

Les recherches menées s’appuient sur le large spectre de compétences scientifiques et techniques réunies dans le Pôle Matériaux et Nanosciences Alsace, au sein du Centre International de Recherche aux Frontières de la Chimie, et en synergie avec l’Institut Carnot MICA.

Partenariat avec l’INSA de Strasbourg

Le CNRS et l’INSA de Strasbourg ont signé un accord de partenariat pour l’accueil d’enseignants-chercheurs, de stagiaires et de doctorants de l’INSA à l’ICS. Quatre enseignants-chercheurs en poste à l’INSA sont membres de l’Institut et exercent leurs activités au sein de de l'équipe Physique-Mécanique Tribologie des Polymères.

Le thème principal est l’étude des polymères et leurs surfaces. Les études en cours portent sur la modèlisation des phénomènes d’usure et de dégradation. Les matériaux étudiés trouvent des applications dans le domaine biomédical. L’équipe travaille avec des chirurgiens pour développer des revêtements et des prototypes innovant pour les prothèses orthopédiques.
